The pickup was relatively easy. The car was great. The return was a little bumpy because we had to wait by the car for maybe 15 minutes for an associate to get to us. Their inspection of the car was very, very picky. They looked at the tires closely as if examining for uneven tread wear. I only put 255 miles on the car. Eventually everything was fine but was not what I would call streamlined and easy as it is in the USA.

My experience was horrible and I was totally ripped off for vehicle insurance. The insurance that was represented as being available through Car rentals at the time of booking was impossible to obtain ( I tried 5 or 6 times but keep getting message that it was not available at that time and to try again later) This never occurred and then when I did try to add the insurance at the pick up desk, I ended up having to pay almost as much as the cost of the car rental to add insurance. At this stage there was no option. The insurance that was supposedly on offer when I booked the vehicle was totally misrepresented as I found out that it was only ever available to renters from USA. I am unlikely to ever use Car Rentals, or Advantage, ever again and will certainly be telling all my friends and family to steer clear of these organisations when considering a car hire option.

Absolutely the worst experience renting a car. The Europcar employee was angry when I would not upgrade the car. Lied to me about the availability of WiFi so that I could make an international call so that the employee would accept my rental car collision insurance, and then repeatedly said that renting the car without paying an additional 1500 dollars should be illegal and how bad Americans were to have the option to rent a car without purchasing insurance.
