I made a reservation for a van for 2 days through carrentals with hertz. My total was of 154 + the inssurance I would chose. They charge me many more things that never appeared in car rentals, like the extra fee for returning a car in the airport. And after the car was returned and I'm already back home they sent me an email charging me an extra 45 usd for the VAT, which was already included in the price that I paied according to the person that attended me on hertz.

CarRentals.com has collected the most frequently asked questions about renting a car in Jerusalem. Read on to find out the dos and don'ts of car rentals.

How can I find a great deal on a car rental in Jerusalem?

  • Read through the mileage policy to avoid any surprises

  • Avoid airport pick-ups and drop-offs if possible; they usually are more expensive
  • Compare weekly and daily rates; you may save more if you rent the car for longer

These tips can help you save even more on your next car rental in Jerusalem.

What rental companies have agencies in Jerusalem?

From global names like Advantage and Hertz to budget-friendly brands like Fox and Budget, CarRentals.com has some of the best brands in the business. Scan through the reviews to get an idea of which one is best for you.

What types and makes of rental cars are on offer in Jerusalem?

That depends on how many people you are traveling with and what you'll be doing when you visit Jerusalem. If you're having a bit of trouble deciding, be sure to read over our chart below. We've compared the most popular vehicle categories for you:

What's the age requirement to rent a car in Jerusalem?

Typically, to rent a car in Jerusalem you must be at least 21—the same as it is across the rest of the United States of America. If you are under 25, you might also need to pay a surcharge. Be sure to read the rental agreement to determine what the total will be before you rent your car.

Does Jerusalem require rental car insurance?

Insurance is mandatory, no matter where you're renting a car. However, you might already be insured by your existing car or credit card policies. Keep in mind, these policies may not provide total coverage, and you'll have to add it to your booking for Jerusalem. Check in advance and, if it is needed, you can simply include it at the CarRentals.com checkout.

What are the different fuel policies?

Most suppliers allow you to choose which policy you want. Below is a list of the most common ones.

What fuel policy should I get?

Many suppliers offer a range of fuel policies. However, the stand-out winner is usually full-to-full. It simply means returning the car with the same level of gas as you got it with, so you'll never pay for anyone else's road trips through the Jerusalem.

Is it worth getting unlimited miles?

Unlimited miles is a great option if you decide to do some sightseeing or visit several business associates all over Jerusalem. You can drive as much as you want and not incur added charges. Go over your rental agreement to see if there are mileage restrictions.

Before you leave the lot

Before you get going on your Jerusalem trip, check a few items prior to leaving the rental lot. It's important to:

  • Walk around the car and determine if there is any dents or scrapes. If so, write it down on the paperwork
  • Inspect the trunk to see if the spare is properly inflated and the necessary tools to change it are there
  • Familiarize yourself with the car. Adjust the mirrors and seats to your liking, and figure out how to turn on the lights and windshield wipers
  • Get comfortable operating the entertainment and GPS (if available). You don't want any unneeded distractions in a new city
