Just 16 miles away, roll down those windows and feel the breeze in your hair on the way there. Republic of Korea Army Training Center, Baekje Military Museum and Gwanchoksa Temple alone justify the drive. Locals will also probably point you toward Gongju, 19 miles away. If you can only see one thing here, make sure it's Gongju National Museum. (But we'd also recommend Gongsanseong Fortress and Magoksa.)

With a population of 1,475,200, you can count on it. If you'd prefer not to be caught in heavy traffic, organize your outings outside the rush hours. They run between 7:00 am and 9:00 am, and again from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Road rules in Daejeon permit drivers at a red light to turn into the lane closest to them, without having to wait for it to turn green. Before making the maneuver, the car must stop completely and the driver must be certain that the way is clear before proceeding.
