Upon checking in with the desk clerk, I was initially told that there were no cars available. Mind you I had reserved a car 1 month prior. After I questioned why there were no cars available for reservations, she then stated she found a car and assigned it to me. When I got to the space where the car was suppose to be it wasn't there. So, I had to go back into the rental car center. The clerk was surprised that there was no car in my space and proceeded to assign another car to me. Thank goodness the next car assigned to me was in the space, however, as we were putting our luggage into the car another customer walked up and stated that Avis/Budget had just assigned the same car to him. He was kind enough to let me have the car and he proceeded to go back into the rental center. Upon returning our rental car on the final day of our trip, Avis could not print a receipt for me outside at the car, I had to once again walk into the rental car center and wait in line to get a receipt! I won't be using Avis/Budget again at Oakland Airport.

The process to p/u our Avis car at Orange County airport was easy and efficient with the counter in the terminal and the car located just a short walk away.

There is a central location for most rental cars at Oakland. The weak link is the shuttle from the airport to the center. We had to wait 20 minutes. Once there, the process was smooth. Our car had the normal wings and dings of a rental car, but it was clean and as promised. Return was easier. No wait.
