Friendly staff though Hertz was extremely difficult to find in the Chicago Amtrak Station - absolutley NO signage. I don't think that's Hertz's fault at all - seems the train station didnt provide signage for ANY rental co. The friendly Hertz employee stayed on the phone with us to guide us to the counter.

Beware! If, during your car rental period, you need to call Hertz to extend your rental by one day, the Hertz agent will quote a crazy higher price, 2 or 3 times as much as your original daily rate. Plus a ‘change fee’ may be tacked on, without warning. Be sure to reserve enough days in the original reservation. Even if you make it one day longer than you think you’ll need. The Hertz people at the city pickup location were very good and efficient - but those on the phone line are thieves and liars.

This was my first time renting a car from this location. I found it easily, and the person at the desk was friendly and very clear on her directions and procedures. I found the car, was able to adjust the seats and mirrors, get myself organized, and pull out. The only bad thing was that I didn't know how to deal with the scanning process to get the gate to open. I had to wait there for someone to come and help. Coming home was easier because I knew where to scan the paper. However, getting into the entrance lane on Washington St. was difficult because of the amount of people walking by in front of me. But it all worked out well.

They gave me wrong vehicles with some else paperwork... had to drive 1 hour to get another vehicle because that one gas mechanical issue Very bad experience

The hours listed on the website were wildly different from the storefront (closing at 9pm versus closing at noon). When I got there, the employee seemed annoyed and rushed. He mumbled and sped through everything, and was generally unhelpful. I asked questions and he simply ignored me. He asked if I had been to that location before, and I said no, but he forgot to explain how to exit the parking lot. He never mentioned that I would receive a text with a QR code which I would have to scan to exit the lot. I had no idea, and I spent half an hour trying to figure it out, before I realized that. The text also came approximately 15 minutes late. Upon return I also had issues because the description of the key drop box was totally wrong! There are multiple sets of elevators on opposite sides of the building, so saying the box is by the elevators is confusing to say the least. I was infuriated and spent nearly an hour of my time trying to figure this stuff out. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy.

The sales person did not explain well how the gas program worked (fill up by hertz). I end up paying for a full tank but did not use more than half the tank! Also, when I pick up the car the representative left the car opened and took off to see another client. Zero customer service, very poorly handled. I will not use hertz again.

You have to check in at the counter of the hotel then go down to the valet to pick the car up so you get no chance to look at it before having to drive away. Wait at the valet was 20 minutes. They also charge a 200 dollar hold on top of what you paid for the rental. When you drop the car off you are just handing the keys off to the valet which is convenient but I still have no idea if Hertz even got the car back since I got no emailed confirmation
