Below are our top suggestions if you want to score the best price on a car rental:

• A car can take you anyplace — so can we. Compare the cheapest deals from all the top rental companies in just a couple of clicks.
• Set an email Price Drop Alert for your next exciting vacation destination. You never know what sensational bargains will zoom straight into your inbox;
• Before you pick up your keys and jump behind the wheel, check out both airport and non-airport pickup and drop-off locations to ensure you're getting your hands on the best deal in town;
• If you don't mind which day of the week you get the keys to your car and your plans are flexible, play around with days and dates to find the best deal;
• Pickup and drop-off times generally need to be the same (e.g, both 10 a.m.) or you might be charged for an entire extra day;
• Sometimes rental companies offer big incentives to pay upfront, so be sure to keep an eye out for these penny-pinching offers;
• It's best to book as soon as your vacation dates are confirmed. You'll have the largest range to choose from the earlier you book.

Simple to maneuver and with great gas mileage — it's hardly surprising that compact cars are the most popular type of rental vehicle in Illinois. And if you have plans to cruise down the bustling streets of Chicago or Aurora, you'll be happy you went for a smaller car too. Zip past traffic, fit into tiny parking spots, and navigate narrow lanes — find out why bigger doesn't always mean better!If dashing down the highway and checking out natural treasures are on the itinerary, consider an SUV or a full-size car. Illinois has some beautiful prairies and lakes, so there are plenty of opportunities to venture into nature. These bigger vehicles are suited to visitors who are into camping, or for lengthy road trips that require a more comfortable ride.
