Montevideo pick up location is outside the Airport. You will need a taxi to get there or wait for the van that runs every fifteen minutes or so The Thirfty office does not open until 8:00 am. But if you arrive too early there is a gas station next to the office with a great food area, good coffe and free WIFI. Pick up some sweets, a capuchino and chill out until they arrive

I had no issues during the rental period, all ok. However, 5000USD was reserved (blocked) from my credit card and this value should be unblocked in maximum 48h after car is delivered. 5 days already passed but the value is stil blocked... Couldn't contact them by phone, no information of the status at all...

I was driving alone in Uruguay - through Montevideo no less - after being in the country a total of 3 days. They were extremely patient with my intermediate Spanish and gave me plenty of directions, even sticking a GPS screen inside the windshield to help. The car ran perfectly and the drop off process was thorough but efficient. I would have liked a printed receipt of a refund (for turning it in a day early) instead of a hand-written one, but that’s my only complaint. I would go with Thrifty again.

First of all, they were supposed to pick me up at the airport at a stipulated time, since the office is actually quite a distance from the airport and not easy to locate, but I had to call to remind them. The car itself was a very bad quality, Indian or Chinese car, which made strange noises and was not comfortable to drive (and did not feel safe to drive on the highway). They charged us what seemed like an unreasonably high fee to have a second driver. I returned the car two days early, and am still waiting for a refund for those days. The employees were friendly and professional, but overall I would not use this company again.

The guys at the service counter were very courteous. The van was Chinese made so was a tin box on wheels, the rear gate would not open after the first day. We exchanged vans, the second van worked well with no issues. Sixt extended our rental period at no charge due to the inconvenience. I would use Sixt again.

The Thrifty did not accept the insurance I did with you and refused to call ALLIANZ GLOBA ASSISTENCE, so I had to make other insurance and I'm resorting to the insurance reimbursement I made with Allianz. The car is old with several damaged accessories. I do not recommend.
