Even though my own insurance would have covered any claim, the rental counter at the airport would not give me a car without local insurance at inflated rates (initially offered for up to €50/day). I balked at that, walked away, came back, eventually got down to ~€20/day. Car was very good, suitable for Irish roads, no problems there. However, I will never deal with this rental company again.

Newly arrived in Dublin we find easily the counters of the different renters at Dublin airport. After exchange of the rental voucher (chosen category: VW Golf or equivalent) the renter offers a Dacia Sandero Stepway essence! Nevertheless for 135 € more (we had already paid 265 € for 10 days of rental) we have the chance to leave with a VW T-ROC diesel. We ask for this vehicle but at the price paid initially, in vain ... Forced constraint, we take the T-ROC with the extra cost ... When settling, sixt does not take the debit cards ... and not wanting take the one of my companion who had one, we pay the high price: € 535 in addition to the € 265 already paid to autoescape! The rental was reserved to my name from autoescape, impossible to redo a contract in the name of my companion to avoid the extra cost. So we left with the VW T-ROC whose interior cleanliness was very average ... In the end bad experience, the rental will have cost us 3 times the original price and will have heavily burdened the budget of our holidays ...
