I called Enterprise at 5pm the day my rental was due -- to ask if I could return the car to a different location (from the airport location I picked the car up from). The representative told me it was no problem and I could return to the location close to me (Laredo) by 6pm, when the office would close. I left immediately, and drove through heavy rush hour traffic and detours safely. I arrived at the Laredo location at 5:35pm with a full tank of gas. However, the door to the office was locked and there was nobody there. It appeared they had closed the office early. After another very long phone call with customer service, they finally told me somoene was back at the office to check the car in. I was not able to complete the return until 6:30pm, making me late to get back to my family in Escazu on time. The experience was very frustrating and hectic.

They charged a drop off fee of $50 that was NOT in the quote and they tried to charge for a paint chip but I had taken before and after photos and showed them. Nice try.

I originally booked a rental 4x4 in late November to pick up in San Jose, Costa Rica. When we arrived we were told that no other 4x4 rentals were available even though another family showed up after us, was helped after us and received a 4x4. Enterprise originally offered nothing except to refund some of the costs. After over an hour of waiting and talking Enterprise gave us a sedan with full protection and then said we could trade it in for a 4x4 in Tamarindo, CR. We talked to the manager and he gave us his business card to call when we got to Tamarindo. When we finally got to Tamarindo we tried to call and no one answered. We went to a Alamo rental and they called and no one answered. We lost valuable time on our trip and the roads that we had to drive on were not meant for a sedan which at times was dangerous. This was the worst experience I have ever had using a rental car service. I will not be using enterprise again.
