This was one of the most positive, easiest car rental experiences I have ever had, and the price could not be beat. The Hertz staff was super friendly, the car was clean and drove like a dream, and drop off was a snap.

Not impressed with Hertz. First, they wanted to charge us an extra $18/day to add a second driver, which is ridiculous. I've never before rented a car that didn't include two drivers: it's not as though more than one person can drive at a time, and it's actually safer to rotate drivers every few hours. They also tried to charge us for an extra day because although we were picking up the car at 2 and returning it at 2, there was a one-hour time change so we were really returning it at 3. No one walked us out to the lot and we had difficulty finding the car in their randomly organized parking lot. We had to chase someone down to do a walk-through with us, which we were determined to do because the car was NOT in perfect condition and had numerous scratches, etc. To top it all off, when we returned the car, the Hertz station at the airport was so under-staffed that they told everyone in the super long line to just hand in their keys and they'd send the receipts -- and when we got home and received the receipt, we had been overcharged $400! AND they're giving us a hard time about it, even though we have the signed contract -- it looks like we may need to get our credit card involved. What's happened to Hertz? -- They used to be a good car rental company.
