easy rental other than finding the place. Hertz doesn’t make it easy to find there off site rental places around the Tampa area.

Very Easy and price was very good! the only inconvenience was that they don’t open on weekends. Just week daya for return

This Hertz office is inside of a Mini Cooper Dealer. But they don't have any signs. I tried to reach the office for more than 1 hour. And finally when I was there , the guy was nasty

I was told, Is a Chevy Impala OK. Me: Sure. Bc a lot of times they give you whatever they have on the lot. NO one said it was an upgrade, so surprise charge at the end. Also overcharged for the extra day. Never again, too dishonest.

Horrible, terrible, unprofessional, and rude are just a few words that I can use to describe this business. When we arrived to pick up our 5pm rental there were 7 other people there waiting on vehicles. I was told that they didn’t have any vehicle at the time even though in prepayed weeks before. Alex (the manager) was very rude and unprofessional. He even stated that since I prepayed there was nothing he could do. When I said well how about I just not fill up on the return he replied...”that would not be a good idea”. While waiting an 1 1/2 hrs to finally get my vehicle (which was not what I reserved...... they gave me a minivan) I pulled up multiple reviews of this branch and in particular Alex that were just awful. He doesn’t deserve title of manager or should he be in customer service. Will definitely not be renting with you guys again.

I waited an hour to get situated with a vehicle that was smaller then what I prepaid for. I was never compensated for the price difference of the vehicle size and was charged $50 to have the tank filled a quarter by Hertz.

We pre-paid for the car so they should have known it and brought over from 'next door' enough cars to have at least the prepaid ones available. Another lady there had been there for hours - first on the phone, then at the office - trying to get a car.

My experience was horrible. I booked my reservation at same time as my flight by typing in Tampa airport and was confirmed at a reasonable rate. Once getting to the airport rental office, I was told it was an incorrect pickup location and they would not honor the confirmed rate. I was charged double my confirmed rate and feel that HERTZ is scamming their customers by booking at nearby locations when you type in the airport you want to pickup at. I am not from the area of Tampa (hence a rental car from the airport) and did not know it was not the right location. This should not be an option when booking. And it is unknown to me why a company would not honor a confirmed rate. I will NEVER rent from HERTZ again and will be telling everyone I know who is traveling, never to use HERTZ. I was charged double. Horrible.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a Tampa Hertz car rental at a great rate?

CarRentals.com always tries to get you the lowest rates, no matter when you reserve your vehicle. However, getting your car ahead of time can help keep spending low. Make sure to read the mileage policy and keeping it to one driver will reduce your expense.

Do I need to bring anything special when I get my car rental in Tampa?

Make sure to present credit card, as well as your driver's license.

What's the minimum age to rent a car in Tampa?

Hertz's minimum age to rent a car in Tampa is 21. Make sure to review Hertz's policies, as there could be added fees if you are under 25 in most cases or for higher category cars in particular.

What kind of Hertz rental car should I get for my trip to Tampa?

That depends on your needs and what you'll be doing when you visit Tampa. Economy or compact cars are easier to park and good for short commutes. If you are traveling with colleagues or family, then a SUV or mid-size vehicle will have enough room for all of you and be a more comfortable ride on longer drives. Those looking for a touch of luxury on their Tampa getaway can choose a higher-end model like a Mercedes C-Class or Cadillac XTS or similar.

Is insurance required when you rent a car in the United States?

You are required to have insurance before you rent a car from Hertz in the United States. Although many of the major card issuers, like MasterCard or Visa, offer some coverage, there are usually restrictions. For instance, you may not be covered if you book a larger or luxury vehicle. Make sure to check credit card issuer's policy before you decide. Otherwise, as a U.S. citizen, you can also book Collision Damage Coverage with CarRentals.com at checkout.

Do I need to pay a deposit when I book my Hertz car rental?

Hertz requires a deposit when you reserve your rental. Hertz will block the deposit on your credit once you book your rental for your trip. Please be aware that the deposit can vary greatly depending on the model and make of the vehicle.

What is the fuel policy on my Hertz car rental?

At CarRentals.com, we suggest a full tank policy. You receive the vehicle with a full tank, and you will want to refuel up to the amount you picked the car up with. To avoid any added expenses, it is best to find a filling station before you return the car to Hertz.

Should I get unlimited miles when I drive in Tampa?

Tampa has enough to keep you entertained, but you may want to head to nearby cities to see what else Florida has to offer. You can explore the rest of the region free of mileage limits once you've checked off all the activities in Tampa. If you want to add even more entertainment on your Tampa getaway, you can check out one of the three theme parks in the region. Embrace your inner child, or take the gang to Adventure Island or Adventure Island Water Park.

Does Hertz offer one-way rentals in Tampa?

Hertz usually offers one-way rentals. You may find it more convenient to drop off your rental at a different Hertz. Be aware there is typically an additional fee when you opt for one-way.
