i go to PV every year since 1986. I know my way around. Eurocar tried to tell me that my rental was to be 1,900 US dollars for the week. I walked out very upset. It was a setup and they finally said that the girl did not speak english well and it rented the car for $197 US as was agreed upon online

I have consistently had good experiences with Europcar.

We will never rent with europcar or any of its affiliates again. Upon arrival the price was extremely more than what I booked. It took them over a half hour from the time I got to the counter to get us checked in and into our car. Once we got to the car it was in pretty rough shape, older with lots of damage to the outside of the car. In the inside every seat had saltwater damage. I asked for a different car and was told that was normal for the area. So my guess is that they don't shampoo or clean them well when they come in, hence the stains to all the seats. There were no backup cameras or any extras of any kind. We paid for the full coverage insurance because driving in Puerto Vallarta is a little crazy. Our last day we were leaving to the airport and one block away from the resort we realize we have a flat tire, which is not obvious when your driving on cobblestone roads. Thankfully we didn't go far. Went to change the tire and a piece was missing to take the lug nuts off. My husband is a big guy and was finally able to get them off and the spare on. The tires were all in pretty bad shape. I'm sure they had not been changed ever. We finally get to the rental counter and let them know and that we are now running late to our flight. They proceed to take there time...then question how far we drove in the tire. I told them a block and they discussed it. At first it sounded like they were going to charge us for a new tire. The mechanic looked at it and decided to charge us $9 US to patch it...the tire was so old I'm not sure patching it was a good idea. The car needed all new tires. I let them know we had paid extra for the full coverage and we're told that tires are the one thing that's not covered. So we paid over $200 US for an old piece of junk, awful service...extremely slow. We got to our gate just before they closed boarding. I've never had this experience at any rental car agency. Had I not been so tired from our travels getting to Puerto Vallarta I would have headed to another rental company.
