Our car reservation was scheduled for pick up at 9am, that's when we got a call that our car would not be ready until 11a/12p. We arrived at 1230p and got set up. We asked if there was any discount off the price for the 3 hour delay, but the representative just shrugged and said no. We asked if we could return the car on Saturday am at the airport and that seemed reasonable, and the rep said that should be good, but nothing was done in a way to mark that agreement. Nothing in the system, just show up and if you have a problem, tell them to call us. But who has time to do that when you are trying to make a flight? We were asked to see if there was any damage to the car that wasn't mentioned on the sheet of paper, so we go out and inspect the car and saw that the rear driver's side bumper wasn't flush with the car and there were minor scratches on the driver's side hood, not only that, but the car smelled like an ashtray. I went inside to let the representatives know and they shrugged it off to say that if we got any push back when we dropped off the car to 'email them.' Email who? The whole experience seemed as if we were inconveniencing the representative and there was no effort to rectify the situation. We decided to drop the car off the next day rather than take it to the airport because we weren't confident that there wouldn't be a hassle, and the car stank and we were happy to give it back.

Rude, I spoke to them about transfer car back to location I had set up original reservation because I was tricked into thinking they were allowing me to pick up a car in Sparta NC, it wasn't it was Spartanberg SC, then I called back immediately after putting in the rental address and I tell them about the the issue, I'm then told to come in and they will make sure my car is there at the original Ashville location. She knew I was going to have to call a cab to get there. Spent $75 on a cab, no car an told rudely to leave and then she somehow got the corporate office to believe I cancelled the reservation but I didn't, I was told to leave after I asked well when do I come back to get a car as I came here in a cab and need one, my car was going into the shop and I had to get my new apartment secured. Well lost apartment, couldn't get car into shop and some nice woman in the mall who lived near me gave me a ride home while Avis rudely made accusations, never cared they left me stranded with three heavy bags in a mall not understanding I couldn't at the time afford to take $75 cabs everywhere. Awful, will never use AVIS EVER!!!!! Horrible people. I even talked to corporate.... nasty... Word of advise NEVER let your customer take a cab in and not get them a car from somewhere when they had a reservation and you obviously gave their car to someone else. It would have been one thing while I was home to say sorry but we did this when you switched to SC pickup, but they didn't, they said to come in knowing I was getting there in a cab.
