My experience was wonderful

I picked-up my Hertz rental in the afternoon. The sun was glaring, and unbeknownst to me, the front windshield had a chip or star just off the driver's main point of vision. I discovered the damage early the next morning (less than 12 hours later) and drove back to Hertz. I asked (the same attendant who checked the car when I picked it up) to check the car again for damages. She didn't find the chip. When I pointed the chip out to her, she immediately said, that wasn't there yesterday. She told me I would be held responsible. I then asked if I could change cars. She said nothing else was available, but I could try another Hertz location (This turned out to be a wild goose chase as the other location said they couldn't just change cars). I then asked her to call me when another car was available. I never heard from her, even though I had the car for 45 days!
Upon dropping the car off at the same location, a different attendant checked the car, and again, didn't find damage to the windshield. However, the original attendant was on duty and saw me drop off the car. After I left, they charged me for the damage. They never called / e-mailed or asked me to fill out a damage report. They just put it on my credit card (as I discovered today). Very poor service by the employees of the Hertz location in Mission Viejo, California.
