I was dissapointed by my experience with Thrifty. I could tell immediately that I'd chosen a budget rental car option. While I wasn't expecting many bells and whistles I was surprised by the low quality of the rental car and the hidden fees for the toll roads around the area. The car I was given was clean but seemed much older than I would expect from a rental company. Although the key tag said it was a 2017 model it had roll up windows (do car companies even make cars with roll up windows anymore?) and the air conditioning barely kept me comfortable at full blast. My best guess was it was an older model that had been recently refurbished. What I found most disappointing was the way Thrifty deals with the NC toll system. There are toll roads all around the area and Thrifty gives you two options 1. pay an additional 15.99/day or pay a $15 service charge for every time you drive through a toll. This was not fully explained to me at the time of rental. Its not much of a choice. When I returned my car I asked about paying the toll fees and gave them some feedback that I thought the fee structure seemed exorbitant. The woman at the counter told me that the service charge was what the State charged and that it was not a policy from the rental company. I later went onto the Toll website and confirmed that this was NOT the case. While the state does charge slightly higher fees for mail-in tolls and a late fee for tolls unpaid, the fees do not add up to $15 for every toll. It seems to me that Thrifty's back office management can't handle paying their tolls on time and passes along an inflated fee to the customer for this. Ultimately that's a terrible way to run a business and I don't appreciate the service agent not being truthful about the reason for the fees.

Thrifty claims I did not return car at RDU when I did, then they keep charging my credit card every day and they NEVER answer the telephone. Totally incompetent company with no regard for customer service

The vehicle was clean and runs like a charm.
