Staff was very friendly. The car was clean. We ended up waiting for 2 hours for the car. Also, make sure you check your credit card car insurance policy. Avis does a hard sell on unnecessary insurance and doubles the cost.

I went to pick up my car from Avis and was informed that the insurance I purchased through this on-line service was not accepted in Costa Rica. I also had insurance through my credit card company which was not accepted either. I was required to pay a huge bill for insurance and additional taxes and fees. Now i’m Going to have to deal with this on-line reservation service to get a refund for my prepaid insurance and i’m Not optimistic that I will be secessful....never again...

I reserved a Jeep Wrangler. Upon arrival at Avis in Costa Rica, they had a compact 2WD car for me. I had to pay an upgrade to get a mid-size SUV (they had no Jeeps). I paid for car insurance at the same time as the car reservation and was charged for it but never received a confirmation or policy number. At the Avis office, they said that the Allianz insurance I purchased through Carrentals.com was not valid in Costa Rica and I had to buy an additional insurance policy for $37/day. All of the cars at Avis had significant dents and scrapes and the interiors were greasy and covered in Armorall.
