Arrived to Cabo, and Fox had no one manning either rental car desk. We had to track down the shuttle guy across the parking lot. Once we got to the rental office, the staff was super friendly...until I mentioned I already bought international rental insurance in the States. They argued with me and made me take an additional $170 USD worth of liability insurance before I could take my rental (3x more than I even paid for the car itself!). They also held $800 on my credit card, saying I would be liable for any damage to the vehicle (this was the cheaper option than going for the $260 USD they wanted to charge me for full-coverage!). The car was great, brand new with a couple slight scratches that the rental guy hastily drew on our agreement before setting us off with the keys. I had a sinking feeling they'd try to railroad us when we turned in the car because we waived their overpriced insurance, and I'm mad we didn't take detailed pictures of each and every mark on the car. Because sure enough, they found a new chip in the windshield upon our return. I told them I refused to pay for an already-there chip, and they threatened to call the police and make us miss our flight home. I signed a paper saying I would refute any further charges to my card, but still had to hand over my card for the chip just to get out of there. I will never use Fox/Mex rentals in Cabo again! I warn other US travelers to get detailed pictures of their car before they leave the rental office, as well as print out detailed insurance coverage information before traveling overseas.

It took way too long to check in and get the car

When I got there, they said the insurance I bought through Car Rental was no good there. I had to pay $250 more. I got ripped off, and double billed
