When we arrived at the pick up time, there was a note on the window saying that they’ll be back in 10 minutes. Waited 25 minutes for someone to turn up.
Car was dirty inside. We had to vacuum when we were at our fiends house.
Different girl when we returned. So much better. Very apologetic about mess and offered us discounts etc.

I unknowingly booked for pickup at a very small Hertz branch, and when I arrived they only had one car available (a crossover), with no compacts available at another nearby branch either. Hertz gave me a small discount on the upgrade cost, but I still paid more than I was expecting for the rental and then paid more for gas in the larger car. Be sure to call ahead when booking online and make sure the car type you want is actually on the lot!
