The car was OK - The service was OK, and very courteous people
But, the amount to be blocked from my card was way too much, and the only way of lowering it from 2200 dollars to 200 was accepting unwanted insurance

When I did the reservation online, the cost of the SUV car for 2 weeks was $330.00. However, when I got there the cost was actually $450.00 + insurance. I was told that the online price was just an estimation and subject to change, so it was paying or not getting the car at all. After that, since I refused to pay for insurance (it's covered by the credit card) they made a safety deposit of $3,000.00 on my card. Then they sent me to the garage to pick up the car and surprise, they didn't have the SUV I reserved available, so they upgraded my car to a full size car (Nissan Sentra) that barely fit all my luggage (the size of my luggage was the main reason I chose a SUV). The tag on the windshield said the next maintenance and oil change should be at 37,000 km. The car was at 48,000 km. I should've taken that as a sign.
One week after, while driving on a highway, my front right tire blew, I maneuvered to the highway shoulder and replaced with the spare tire (that was in terrible condition). I then went to the tire fitter to get a new tire (tires are not included on the insurance's coverage and they say that you are responsible for the replacement) and he said that the tire I had was vulcanized already, with a patch so large that was bound to blow sooner or later. Another $50.00 on a second hand (in much better condition) tire. He also calibrated all the tires because they were all almost flat.
2 days after that I ran out of windshield wiper fluid. When I stopped at the gas station to get it filled, the gas station clerk checked the car oil and brake fluid and to my surprise said that the brake fluid was almost dry. Since I was about to return the car and had somehow survived 2 weeks with that car, I refused to spend any more money on it.
So I ended up spending $500.00 on a car I didn't want. Avis/Budget will never see me or my family and friends again.

at carrentals web site I rented a VW GOL or equivalent, when I got there they gave a very small car, they said that the category you guys paid for was A and the car GOL was in category B.....another word....you guys sell one product and deliver another. Unfortunately we had a family emergency in Brazil and I had no time to argue!
I've tried to contact you guys, but is that a number for that???
I end up with a car that the radio didn't work, very small, not comfortable at all, no room for luggage, I had to put my luggage inside of the car and no help from the people at budget.
Budget does not have a store in Santos, SP - Brasil and I couldn't do anything about it when I got there.
Only way would be to drive about 2 hours back to the airport agency to try to get another car..
The agent at the agency said that the problem was between carrentals.com and I, they gave the car that you guys paid for and that was it!
I paid for a GOL and not for a YUGO!!
Who covers that mistake now??
