Plenty of selections and they tell you what car is yours and you get it yourself.

I have never had this type of experience with a rental car company before and I consider myself a regular traveler. First off let me say I completely understand the reason behind the policy that ruined my experience, but the final decision to make an exception rest with the physical location. Unfortunately my manager not only didn't want to deal with my situation he assured me another car rental place would be able to accommodate and he mentioned them by name. The policy that ruined my experience prevented me from renting a vehicle from an international airport and driving to another international airport without a return flight ticket. The only exception was to provide a physical credit card even though I used a cc to make the reservation weeks in advance. Also, all this could have been avoided on the web site that should have red flagged the fact I had no flight on either end of the trip. As far as I knew it was a normal rental location near the airport. Because my travel was local I only had my bank car which has always been used as a credit card when needed and since this is the 21st century my cc is programmed in my phone. The brief back story is I drove from Virginia to Pennsylvania to sell a car to a friend and rented a car to return. Even though I could verify the cc I used to make the reservation the answer was still no. I was told to visit an adjacent rental lot to which the other rental place informed me no one will rent one way without a return flight ticket or major credit card in possession. I was fortunate however to locate a local enterprise fifteen minutes away to which I happened to be fifteen minutes away before they closed. Lucky me. I made it just in time to rent a very small car (I'm a very big man) that wreaked of smoke even though policy prohibits smoking in rentals. And because of the change in reservation I was charged twice as much and did not get the class of car I requested weeks in advance. This is a first world problem but I was treated like a third world terrorist. The only blessing was I didn't have to return to the airport, but a location in my home town. Shame on me for not carrying my actual credit card with me and not on my phone. I feel something more could have been done to either prevent this from happening when I booked the car or an empathetic understanding manager with authority to make an exception. That of course falls on Enterprise / Alamo. As an added note, the manager could have recommended dropping at an offsite location away from the airport, but something tells me my $50 rental would have turned into $200. Had this experience not happened my answers to the survey would have been more positive.

My experience at Alamo was fantastic. Friendly customer service. Clean car. Easy, smooth pick up and drop off process. Would definitely recommend and rent from again. Thanks Alamo!!
