Will be using Hertz again - called to say we would be delayed and the guy at the desk stayed till way after his time to wait for us - much appreciated as we would have had to wait till morning and get a hotel for the night.

Overall, the car turned out to be ok and Hertz are normally pretty good. However on this occasion in this location I had some issues. Firstly I booked online and was confirmed around 6.15am. When I went to the counter they said they wouldn't have any cars until 9am. Even though car rentals.com confirmed a 7am pickup they said it would normally take 3 hours from the time of booking. Secondly, the excess on this car with no insurance was 10,000 UKP. Luckily I have 3rd party insurance, but in general, companies like Enterprise have a 1000 UKP excess. I've found this to be the highest excess of anywhere I've rented in the world.
