The car had a few bumps and scratches but that was perfect because it would cover up any additional scratches that could happen on the trip.

I had a VW Golf from Europcar from 25 May to 26 June 2019, BCN airport, T1. The pick up was generally smooth, but the agent insisted on buying an insurance “according to Spanish laws”. No idea, if this is true or not. At the return, the agent accepted the car with no comments, however few hours later the Europcar deducted 430Eur for the scratch that was never discussed with an agent. I do not know, if the scratch is real or not, but all car damage is supposed to be discussed with the customer, before implying any penalties. Also there is a chance that the car was scratched after the return. I already opened the dispute in the bank and will fight to get this penalty back.
Beware of the Europcar and never use their services. This is an awful agency trying to rob you for nothing.

The car rental was at the airport under Cardelmar not present! After consultation Interrent was responsible! The switch was separate from all other AV. The cheap offer was added to insurance and taxes, so that ultimately tripled price.
