Experience was Great!

Biggest plus was that the shuttle to take us to the office was literally waiting outside when we arrived. A quick 5 minute drive and we were there. No line and friendly staff assisted us when we arrived. First hiccup was that the car they offered us was in really bad shape! TONS of dents and scratches and not just the typical door dings. Stains on the seats and my husband didn't even feel comfortable with the tread on the tires. On the up-side, they had another car available - still with a few more dents than I am used to, but MUCH better and cleaner. They also did a photo documentation of all of the damage and emailed it to us before we even left so there would be no question if any of it was caused by us. Just make sure you receive that email before you leave - they had a few issues getting it to send. The car was fine for the week. We had a white Toyota Corolla with abut 22k miles on it. We estimated it got about 30 mpg. We did quite a bit of driving (up Haleakala and all around the island - no road to Hana) and only spent about $50 in gas for the week. The biggest downside was that on the day we left, our flight was at 9am and the rental office did not even open until 8am! We had to drop the car off early and use the after hours key drop. I did my own video documentation of returning the key and recording no additional damage to the car since there were no attendants there to verify it. Also, since they are not open there was no shuttle back to the airport! I had to drop my family off at the airport with all of the luggage and then take a $9 uber ride to get back to the airport. Not a HUGE deal in the grand scheme of things, but you would think if there are major airlines departing that early on a regular basis, they would be open with enough time to get you there! Overall it was fine, and for the price ai really can't complain too much...got a great deal per day on Carrentals.com
