Had to call the rental place to be picked up from the airport. No agent was available at the airport to direct us in the proper direction. Upon arriving at the rental location, was informed that the insurance I purchased online through carrental.com was not valid and still had to purchase insurance through Budget, also there was a $2,500 USD deposit/Hold placed on my credit card to rent the vehicle. Both of these charges were unexpected and a surprise to me. Upon inspection of the minivan that we were to receive we noticed that the front tires were worn excessively and mentioned that to the rental agent. He affirmed us that it was okay. I took the vehicle with the presumption that the rental agent was being truthful with us. Once on the highway the vehicle had excessive road noise and a terrible steering wheel vibration and pull to one side. I had to return the vehicle to the rental place the next day in fear that something unsafe would happen to me and my family. Wasting both mine and my families time on what was already a pressed schedule. Budget in GDL was willing to give me another vehicle but insisted that I return the broken minivan with the same amount of gas I received it with. I mentioned to them the least they could do is let me return it the way it is since I had to drive all the way back to the airport wasting both gas and my precious time because they gave me a bad vehicle. The amount of gas it was short was only a quarter of a tank. So instead of paying some outrageous gas price that Budget charges for fuel, I still had to leave the rental location with this bad minivan to go get fuel. The least they could have done was accept it as is since they issued me a bad vehicle. Took almost an hour to get a new vehicle, and it did not have bad tires and drove way better. Overall, this rental experience with Budget rental was terrible for me. I will not be using Budget or carrental.com ever again.
