Question 1

What are the major attractions in Quito?

Accepted Answer

If your trip to Quito is all organized but your itinerary is a little on the empty side, we can give you a few hints and tips.

Think of Quito and then say the first thing that springs to mind. You probably said "El Panecillo," right? Being such a significant landmark, you can't miss seeing it. Hurl your bags into the trunk and check it off your bucket list.

You'll need to roll out of bed early if you're hoping to see all the notable attractions this place has to offer. Atahualpa Olympic Stadium and Basilica of the National Vow are no-brainers. Independence Square and Catedral Metropolitana de Quito can't be missed either.

Close to the city center, Foch Square is one sight you might like to consider putting on your to-do list. General Rumiñahui Coliseum and Quicentro Shopping are also nearby and worth checking out.

Question 2

What are the best road trip destinations near Quito?

Accepted Answer

You're probably wondering what else is near you. Head a little further afield from the center of Quito and you'll come across a few big-name attractions. San Antonio de Pichincha is only 16 miles away and home to Monument to the Equator. Fill up the gas tank, because it's well worth a visit.

Question 3

Where are the best convention centers near Quito?

Accepted Answer

If you're here for primarily work-related purposes, you'll probably be going to Eugenio Espejo Convention Center. It's located 2 miles away.

Question 4

What kind of rental car should I get for Quito?

Accepted Answer

If it's your first trip to Quito, get ready for a good time. With landmarks like Monument to the Equator and El Panecillo, you'll be wondering why you didn't organize your trip sooner. But like all busy cities, driving can be challenging — so why not lock in a compact car or a mini? Parking is a piece of cake and handling is about as easy as it gets. Alternatively, if you'd rather stay away from the downtown area and marvel at the farther-flung rolling hills in Pichincha, opt for an SUV or a four-wheel drive.

Question 5

Should I get a luxury rental car in Quito?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes the journey is more significant than the destination, which makes choosing the right car important. If you're about to embark on an epic road trip around Quito, a robust and stylish SUV could be the perfect solution. If you want the best possible price and plan to stick to city driving, an economy car is a wise pick. All you have to do is decide what will suit you best, throw your bags in the trunk, and clock up those miles.

Question 6

Is it difficult to park in Quito?

Accepted Answer

You shouldn't have too much difficulty finding a parking space in Quito. However, like in any bustling city, there are rules you have to follow. Before you leave your vehicle, check the signage. Overstaying the permitted time limit may earn you a heavy fine.

Question 7

Does Quito have peak-hour traffic?

Accepted Answer

Since the population of Quito is roughly 1,399,800, you're likely to come across some heavier traffic in the center of the city. Before and after work is when traffic is at its worst, so you may want to stay off the road during these times.

Question 8

What happens if I get a speeding fine while driving a rental car in Metropolitan District of Quito?

Accepted Answer

Normally, one of two things will happen. Your rental company may bill the amount of the fine to your credit card. This is the usual approach. Otherwise, it may supply your contact information to local authorities so the fine is sent to you directly.
