I reserved a 4x4 car in the Suzuki Grand Vitara class, with insurance of $9 per day. When I got there they told me that they did not honor the online insurance, and did not have a 4x4. The car we received had over 120,000 km on the odometer and no functioning A/C. We were told we had to purchase insurance of a minimum of $30/day and could not decline (which was not stated anywhere online). The mileage limitation was far too low for the amount of time it was rented.

At the office, whithout time to compare, they didn't accept the insurance policy we contracted through the web. Instead, they offered a more expensive one. Limited milleage.

I discovered at the time of pickup that the insurance I purchased at the time of my reservation was not acceptable. Thrifty only accepts insurance purchased through them. Their insurance was almost three times the amount I purchased through CarRentals.com - would have been good to know before making the reservation.
