Being that this is Nascar week where I live...the car selection was very limited. This was explained to me when I picked up the car. I was told the car I was getting did have some cosmetic damage. I was ok with that, and it wasn't that bad. What I didn't expect was the car made a ding ding ding sound every 30 seconds, like I wasn't wearing my seatbelt...but I was. Also, the car stunk and whoever rented prior, was NASTY! The smell was an overwhelming nauseating sweet smell. There was some type of sticky gunk spilled in the back seat and back floor. Also there was makeup fingerprints all over the visor. Then finally the windshield and windows had a smoke haze and had not been cleaned. There was also an unacceptable item that had been left in the back seat that I found before returning it. I only had the car overnight to drive to an appointment that is about an hour and a half away. Otherwise, I would have found this unacceptable. There is NO way, I would or could have driven this car on a long trip. I would have been livid if one of my children had found what I did, in the back seat. When I returned the car, I had explained everything that was wrong. The rental agent was very apologetic and did discount some off the rental fee. I would like to give the rental agents 5 stars for kindness, friendliness, and their help. The detailing and maintenance get a 0. There is NO way this car had been cleaned after it had been returned by the last renter. Either the person who was supposed to clean it said they did and didn't, or somehow the detailing and maintenance was overlooked, since they were so busy with their Nascar rentals. The car did run and drive great and accomplished what I needed it for. I would just recommend looking over the car while you are at the rental lot before hopping in and taking off. Many people would have made a bigger issue than I have, especially with what was left behind. If I had been in an accident or stopped, I could have been responsible for something that I was not aware of, since whoever should have cleaned or detailed the car failed to do their job. Fortunately, I made it to my destination and returned the car without any issues besides what was mentioned.

We rent vehicles for our trips to Memphis to pick up our special needs son. my husband arrived at Budget to pick up our reservation only to be told there were no more accommodations with a budget even though we had our confirmation number. We NEVER received a notice that there were no vehicles left or any heads up that we would be encountering this issue. We had to rent from Hertz and we’re charged double. Having a special needs child is expensive so pennies count to our family. We did go through carrentals.com for our reservation and have never had an issue but the staff at Budget could’ve been more sympathetic. They did not care and it really made us feel inferior. From someone who worked at a car dealership in the rental department, I understand certain protocol should happen in certain instances...Budget handled themselves poorly.
