As with many things in a new country, there seems to be an assumption that people know how to handle things. When i arrived at Avis, everything was fairly straight forward with the exception of the insurance. I wanted this when i booked the car, but the website would not accept my card for the insurance despite allowing the car booking. Made no sense. I figured I would get this taken care of at arrival only to find out that insurance costs 2-3 times more at pickup. Why would this be?? I havent driven the car so what difference does it make? Or, fix your site. The car i received was nearly brand new, clean, and in perfect shape. No issues there. Then, at drop off on a Sunday where everything is closed, i arrive at the gate expecting it to open. I see a button which states its for Avis customers. I press it and the woman responds asking me for my car model. I repeat it 5 times with no response or help. Luckily for me, someone drives up behind me after 10 min, walks up with a key and puts it into the box where the button was to open. I'm not sure how I would have accomplished this since i didnt have any keys (my car had a key fob only). Nobody told me the gate wouldnt be open nor did they explain what it would take to open it. This experience wont deter me from using them again, but i will definitely make calls/ask questions next time before booking.
