When we picked up the car we unfortunately had to wait 2 hours for a car as there was nothing despite the reservation. For that we got a rental car of a higher category. Otherwise everything is fine!

We were still surprised when we arrived to hear that there was no longer a car available, that we were accompanied to our hotel and that we would have a car the next morning. The problem is that we collect the car at the airport of Punta Cana and that the same evening we sleep in Bayahibe. At our insistence, we were found a car, the one we had reserved.

Upon arrival at the Alamo rental office, we were told that our vehicle was unfortunately not available. No vehicle available !!! To our question why the car rental company did not contact us, they told us that they had no contact with us. E-mail and telephone were listed in the booking form, they have not commented on this.

They are super slow, shady, trying to RIP you off, even when you already paid for the alliance insurance they do not acknowledge it, quoting:you need to buy OUR insurance not third party coverage then overcharge ,using scare tactics, offerings bunch of add ons and putting a hold on your credit card 3 times the amount for the rental ,which is unnecessary. They need to stop being so pushy, and focus on customer satisfaction.

The price advertised for this vehicle does not accurately reflect the true cost, which in our case was more than 500% more expensive per diem than we expected. The price displayed at the time of booking is a complete deception; once at the desk the rental company presented us with their 'coverage' options which the desk clerk claimed as mandatory. The least expensive option required a $3,010.00 USD 'security,' deposit to be placed on a major credit card (the vehicle they presented us was mechanically serviceable, but the deposit amount probably exceeded the total value of the vehicle.) The mandatory, 'third party collision damage waiver' coverage 'options' were not disclosed at anytime throughout the booking process and unexpectedly added more than $32.00 USD /day to the rental cost ( at the time of booking approximately $6 USD/ day was the total cost displayed). We were presented with additional coverage options, which marginally decreased the security deposit to be collected, but the daily 'coverage' cost would have increased significantly to approximately $38 USD /day and $46 USD respectively, depending on the option selected. This type of rent seeking fee collection has become more commonplace in the hospitality industry, (e.g. in the lodging sector - 'resort fees,' 'amenities fees' etc.) with schemes like 'drip pricing' designed to induce customers using marketing puffery, deceptive trade practices and outright fraud to conceal the true cost of an service until the very last possible moment, often past the point in time when cancellation for a refund is allowable. In our case after a four hour international flight we were excited to begin our vacation, we arrived at the rental car desk having budgeted for one price only to find out the true cost was at least 5x more expensive per day than we were lead to believe by the booking agency. Of course, we did have the option to decline the additional costs and try and find alternative transportation, but as we frantically searched for other options we quickly realized that last minute rentals, on-site through different providers, was cost prohibitive. Additionally, other transport options were available at the airport facility, however, a member of our party had limited mobility and was most comfortable in our own private transport. Regardless, the deceptive trade practices of this company made the overall experience very poor and I DO NOT recommend their services to anyone. Lastly, as I mentioned before the overall state of the vehicle condition, at the time of collection, was very poor. It took over 45 minutes of waiting after checkout from the desk to get a vehicle, it was filled with garbage from the previous party and the air conditioning condensation had not been properly draining from the vehicle for some considerable time as gallons of water had accumulated under the dashboard and into the passenger compartment footwell. The smell of mold, mildew and rotting upholstery was abysmal

We rented a car for $9 a day for 28 days. Our credit card will cover our car insurance. But when we went to pick up the car they told us we had to buy third-party insurance or they would not rent to us. The insurance cost us twice the amount of the car rental. The car was supposed to cost us about $300 we ended up paying $1000. For 28 days. We felt like we got scammed.

I pre-purchased insurance through you. To save time and money. When I got to pick up car at Europcar they said my insurance was no good. I called your insurance, and they agreed that they could not insure in Dominican Republic and refunded my money. What a horrible way to start my vacation spending several hundred dollars more than I expected to pay. This was embarrassing to me and took me a long time at the rental counter to solve this grave issue.

Right rear brakes need replacing. They said two insurances were mandatory, so insurance was more than twice as much as the car. Car exterior was dirty.
