My experience with the subcontracted America Car Rental (EZ car rental) was POOR. The Minivan was not clean (dirty carpet and sand all over the dashboard) also the basic insurance contracted was not good enough and by local law a higher insurance limit had to be contracted with higher cost rate. So overall experience was poor!

We greeted outside the Merida airport and picked up almost immediately by the rental car company shuttle van. However, once at the rental location we waited for over an hour to get the car. While there were one or two people in front of us, this seemed like an exorbitant time to wait. They did not have any maps to give us, we had to swing back through the airport and retrieve one from a different rental car company. Despite having bought separate insurance previously through car rental.com, this company was adamant that I cannot rent the car without also purchasing their insurance. This seemed completely ridiculous. I tried to explain that I had already purchased insurance, knowing our US car insurance carrier does not work overseas. They have a sign on the counter that states they do not accept ANY outside insurance. I am not going to attempt to get a refund for the money I spent on the insurance which was not only unnecessary, but useless.

My experience where good expend by return there was a little scratch on the bumper and we had to pay $106 so where is the insurance for???
