they charged me more money then it said on the rental agreement

When picking up, we were a little late and our vehicle was rented on. After a few sharp words, we had to wait a bit for a new car to be ready for us.

There was a problem with one of the brake lights so we had to exchange the car. It happened at 5:30 in the afternoon and there were no dealers open near by so we had to drive at night without one of the brake lights. Obviously, the problem slows down other plans as we had to search for a Hertz near where we were at the next day to exchange the car. Our original car had been upgraded but the exchange dealer did not recognize the upgrade. He said that he is an independent dealer so his hands were tied. No recognition of the inconvenience that we had to go through was recognized. Maybe each location is an independent business but it would be more professional if they would support each other better. We have rented from other economy rental car companies and have never had problems. The representative at Benson, Il. was very congenial and friendly. We understand that problems happen but it would have been nice for the other dealership to show a little more sympathy for the inconveniences we went through. Also, Hertz should have a plan for problems that happen after locations are closed.
