Declared a contact case the day before the scheduled rental date, my partner and I carried out tests which were found to be positive for Covid-19 the next day. Boarding the Air Corsica flight to Bastia was therefore forbidden to us, and isolation prescribed. Despite my call the day before the rental at the Alamo counter to cancel the reservation of a vehicle and two child seats, the attendant (otherwise very friendly) told me that AutoEscape would not issue the refund, less than 48 hours before picking up the vehicle. I did not receive any response to my refund request sent to AutoEscape Customer Service. The fact of contracting Covid-19 (the results of the tests in lieu of proof) nevertheless constitutes a case of force majeure in the eyes of the courts. The Alamo company is undoubtedly not involved, on the other hand there is a lack of good citizenship and an obvious abuse on the part of AutoEscape, for which I am asking for redress under penalty of prosecution.
