I realized I left my phone in the car after I was in the terminal. I ran back to the lot, the attendant contacted the agent who checked me in and he was already looking for me to return my phone. He then offered to give me a ride back to the terminal. It was very kind of them all round.

Two flat tires right after I picked up car. 24 hour roadside assistance never answered so I had to get it fixed myself. When I said something the people at the counter said to send an email. Also made a cash deposit and when I asked for it back I was told they don't take cash deposits. Hmmmm

I am yet to understand the use of platinum visa cards , mc gold card for collision insurance benefit at this ace / island rental. I had to contact visa etc myself and still didnot get insurance despite visa saying coverage was worldwide. I think this insurance thing by rental companies is a big scam . i did not even see the insurance contract . Also the terms and conditions was printed so light that one would think it is a blank piece of paper( another form of hoodwinking customers). In jamaica you all should get the rental coverage from visa or MC sorted so that customers with these cards can benefit but i guess that would mean that the car rental company would not be able to charge these high prices for insurance coverage and customers not even seeing the contract . Also i hopeam not black listed but i am speaking my mind .

The pick up was almost one hour because they could not find the car. We were supposed to receive a toyota 4runner or similar and ended up with a vitara, that does not look similar to me. Car was a complete disaster, 70000 kms on it, radio did not work and did not charge usb, no Bluetooth. No gps as well. Suspension of the car was terrible, felt like a car from back in the 90s. Steering wheel not assisted. Gas milege very high. Car did not have enough power for jamaican hills, it was in very bad conditions, had dents and scratches all over. Worse rental in my life in any country i have visited. Do not recomend renting ACE in jamaica. I expect some refund on the matter that the car was not similiar to our pick on the web site.

3 traffic tips to keep you safe

  • You’ll have to drive on the left in Jamaica, so stay alert to that fact if you’re not used to it.
  • Locals tend to drive in an unashamedly bold way, and as a newcomer it’s best to drive defensively and keep an eye out for overtaking traffic.
  • Make liberal use of your car horn, especially when planning to overtake or going around tight bends.
