My experience was that upon picking up the car and them finding out I wasn’t American or Canadian (despite seeing my licence previously and knowing I was British) I “had” to be charged a mandatory insurance fee which came to £100. I already have excess cover separately but this didn’t count apparently. They wouldn’t let me cancel and re-book as a Brit, they didn’t explain this to me beforehand and they were generally evasive and unhelpful. Thus a car for 4 days cost me £269. Ridiculously expensive.

We rented a car via Cardelmar at Europcar. Ultimately get pickup upgrade and everything super easy. Gladly again.
