I rented the vehicle on Carrentals.com and purchased the insurance policy they offered through Allianz. I called Allianz and made sure that they accepted insurance from Avis, specifically in Panama. I was told yes. When I got to the counter they said they did not accept this policy and they made me buy a policy which was twice as much. I tried to call Allianz but I was painfully slow going through their computer generated customer service. They said the call volume was high so I waited but had to hang up because I needed the car to get to an event. I am going to call Allianz now to see what they say.

It said on my paperwork that a shuttle was priced by nexus tours however that was not the case. Also there was only 1 cab available when we got there which someone else had already hired. We stood around for about 45 minutes waiting for a cab to come . I like that we can rent a car in the area but they need to have something at airport for arrivals that are not on a tour bus. When we returned the car there was no one at the desk so we waited again. I think maybe the Fox rental guy should come and pick up the guests at the airport and drive you back.

We were picked up at the airport in our vehicle by an employee and driven to a large resort 8 minutes away to do the paper work. It was just a little desk in the entrance to the resort with one car rental employee (one man show). Upon carefully inspecting the vehicle (after the employee had), we found a large nail/screw in the treads of one of the tires. There were also a lot of scratches and it wasn't really clean inside, but there was no garbage. We were going to be driving a fair distance so we wanted that repaired. The fellow didn't speak English, so we had to re-negotiate everything with another guy on the phone in Panama City. He gave us a much smaller car (which he was using) for the night and we had to return out of our way to get the repaired vehicle the next day. All this took an extra hour+. Return was even worse. The fellow wasn't even there. A hotel employee texted the fellow and he had to come from some other town 25 minutes away. We were going to be late to the airport. Then he suggested we take a taxi ($15 US) to the airport when we got there because another man wanted to potentially rent a vehicle. I argued that the shuttle was part of the agreement and he said no, just pick up at the airport. I stood my ground and he did finally drive us there. Not impressed with the one man show. We showed up a bit earlier than we said, but that's never a problem when I rent and pick up from a real office with more than one employee.
