The site manager was extremely accommodating and very helpful. Arrived early, he went out of his way to make our life easier and picked us up at the airport without delay. Thank you for your welcome!

The car was in good shape and the rate was reasonable IMO for Tahiti. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was the disproportionately large hold put against my credit card ($30k!). Alternatively, there was a $20+ insurance charge. Everything else was pretty good and I’ll rent again since Europcar was one of the few options including unlimited mileage.

Got a Renault Clio 4 which was much smaller than we expected for 4 people. All of our luggage did not fit. 2 people had to take a taxi to the hotel and later when we left to the airport. The total cost of the rental was 40,650 XPC - 340 Euros

The scam is all the companies want about $90 us per day. Very expensive. You website advertised $40 us per day. When I picked up the car it didn’t include the kilometers!! So it ended up being 90 per day. Very misleading

Very close to the ferry dock (across the street). The car was ready and clean. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a map with places to go/things to do on the whole island.

The car over 90,000 KM was "tired"! A tire incident was kindly settled by the agents but with difficulty.

How can I get a cheap car rental in French Polynesia?

Here are our recommendations on how to hop behind the wheel of a rental car with some extra cash in your wallet:

  • Our handy filter feature will be your new BFF. Scan the hottest discounts from all over the web quickly and easily;
  • By entering only your email address into our Price Drop Alert, you'll be informed of all the best offers for your selected location;
  • Search both airport and non-airport outlet locations to make sure you're getting the absolute best offer in town;
  • If you have room to move in your schedule, play around with your dates to find better prices on different days of the week;
  • To avoid paying a late fee or an extra day, aim to keep your pickup and drop-off times as similar as possible;
  • Some rental outlets reward you with discounts if you pay as soon as you book, so keep your eyes open for these penny-pinching deals;
  • It's best to secure your booking as soon as your dates are locked in. The earlier you book, the bigger the choice.

What is the most popular rental car category in French Polynesia?

Minis are the smallest vehicle available for rent, and they're often the most cost-efficient to run as well. This is exactly what makes them such a favorite with travelers to French Polynesia. Whiz around the streets of Faaa and Papeete — you'll be amazed at the parking spaces you can squeeze into. Despite their small size, minis offer a comfortable ride (just so long as you don't have too many cases!).

Of course, French Polynesia boasts plenty of valleys, sandy shores, and coastal plains. Many adventurers skip town to take in these glorious vistas. If that sounds good to you, rent an SUV or a full-size car. Even if you don't think you'll take the path less traveled, you'll be grateful for the extra room.

Should I get a luxury rental car in French Polynesia?

Sometimes it's all about the journey, which makes choosing the right car important. If you're planning an unforgettable road trip around French Polynesia, a roomy SUV could be the ideal solution. If you want the cheapest possible price and plan on doing a lot of city driving, an economy car is hard to beat. All you have to do is decide what'll suit you best, pack up the car, and start clocking up those miles.
