If your trip to Almonte is all booked but your itinerary is a little on the empty side, let us give you a few hints and tips.
There are loads of things to see and do in the immediate surrounds. Don't leave without visiting Mississippi Valley Textile Museum and Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum. If you have time, also check out Carleton Place Town Hall.
If you have a spare day or two and you're willing to travel 50 miles, check out Brockville. This vibrant destination has loads of things to see and do. Brockville Museum, 1000 Islands Mall and Fulford Place alone make the drive out worth it. The locals are also likely to point you in the direction of Smiths Falls, 25 miles away. If you only see one thing here, make sure it's Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario. (But we'd also recommend Rideau Canal Visitor Information Center and Heritage House Museum.)
Here are our top tips and tricks to help you save more money:
Rent a car and get around Almonte at your own pace. Love to head out into some nature? Go with an SUV. This vehicle is perfect for those after outdoor adventures. Just want to get easily from A to B and traveling with just a few bags? If you aren't planning on driving for long distances, a compact or a mini is a fantastic option.
You'll be glad to hear that there's an impressive variety of both luxury and economy vehicles to rent in Almonte. What you opt for will depend on how much you want to spend and the activities you've got planned. Prestige vehicles offer the best in comfort and class. If you want to treat yourself, why not pick up a high-end SUV, or perhaps a cushy mid-size sedan? On the other hand, if you just need something to get you around town at the cheapest price possible, you're better off choosing a no-frills compact vehicle (or something else that's unlikely to break the bank).
