I made a reservation rent a Chevy Tahoe from July 2-July 6, 2020. The reservation was made on Feb 2, 2020.. About an hour before I was supposed to pick up the truck, on July 2, a rep from Enterprise in Steger Illinois called me to ask if i was using a major credit card or a debit card. When I told him debit, he stated that i could not use a debit and needed a major credit card. I have always used a debit card with Enterprise so I was completely shocked. I had previous called to confirm that the debit card was acceptable because the confirmation email said valid credit card in the driver's name must be presented at pick up. Debit cards may be accepted. Please check with Enterprise. And was told that debit was ok. But on July 2 the rep told me that I needed a major credit card and they did not accept debit cards for SUV's. I understand if that is their policy but they had 6 months to inform me of that. I had to cancel an entire family vacation on a holiday weekend hours before we were to leave.
