While motoring around the streets of The Lagoon, keep in mind that the speed limits range from 40km/h to 100km/h. Most residential areas are 50km/h unless otherwise signed.
It’s prohibited to use your cell phone while driving in The Lagoon, and you may also be hit with a fine for just handling a phone when you’re in control of a vehicle. That being said, using hands-free or Bluetooth functions is allowed, as long as your eyes remain on the road.
In The Lagoon, it’s a fineable offence to operate a vehicle with a BAC (blood alcohol content) in excess of 0.05%. If you’re thinking of having a few drinks, it’d be wise to leave your rental car behind.
Turning on a red light isn’t allowed in The Lagoon. Always keep an eye on traffic signs and lights to ensure you don’t break any road rules.
Although there are a small number of exceptions, seat belts must be fastened when the vehicle is in motion in Oberon Council.
