Took a long to be acknowledged, let alone to be served. Computer wasn't working properly, so took a long time. Got the car, not what we wanted as was filthy inside and out, a disgrace. They did give us another car, but we're not happy to do so. Not a great experience...

The supplier in Messina claimed he did not get enough information from CarRentals to book the requested car for me, and for this reason no car was rented at the reserved price. He wanted to rent the same car for the double price, so I had to look for another supplier and at the end I lost 2 hours going around in the city without a car and spending money to pay taxi services...

The agent's computer was down when I picked it up and she was unable to include a condition report that showed damage to the right front wheel. When I dropped it off at the airport I got charge for that damage. I didn't have the time or language skills to argue with the Hertz agent as I had to make my flight. I'm not sure what to do to remedy this. Please advise.

We had a car reserved in Taormina for a 12:00 noon pick-up. We arrived early and were told that there were not any cars available even for those with reservations. We were told that cars would be available by 5:00 pm. We went back to the office in the late afternoon, it was closed when it stated times to be open. An agent finally showed up after 5 pm driving our rental car. We lost 1/2 day of sightseeing in Syracuse. Very bad!

Should I get a luxury rental car in Messina?

Sometimes the journey is more significant than the destination, which makes your car choice particularly important. If you're about to embark on an unforgettable road trip around Messina, a robust and stylish SUV could be the answer. If you're hoping for the cheapest possible price and plan on staying mostly in the city, an economy car is a wise pick. All you need to do is decide what'll suit you best, throw your bags in the back seat, and clock up those miles.
