Find Your Way Around Pittsburgh Airport

Pittsburgh, PA is called “The City of Bridges,” and has over 400 of the magnificent structures scattered throughout its city limits. Next time you visit, drive across almost every one of them at your own pace with a cheap Pittsburgh airport car rental.

Pick Up Your Car at the Airport

When you arrive at the airport, debark your plane and follow the signage to the baggage claim area of the terminal. Grab your bag and from there, walk to the lower level of the parking garage to pick up your car rental from one of the on-site car rental companies. If you reserve your rental car through an off-site company, you may be provided with a shuttle or additional method of transport. Be sure to check with your preferred provider. Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is located about 20 miles west of Pittsburgh, and once you have your car rental keys in your hand, you’ll be on your way to experience the Golden Triangle.

Enjoying Pittsburgh

For a taste of Pittsburgh’s culture, steer your Pittsburgh airport car rental about 20 miles east on I-376 to the Andy Warhol Museum. Warhol was born in Pittsburgh, and this seven-floor building houses thousands of prints, paintings, and sculptures, among other pieces of Warhol paraphernalia. After several hours of exploring the galleries, you’ll be hungry; hop back into your car and drive across one of the many bridges traversing the Allegheny River. On the south bank, you’ll find numerous eateries along Penn and Liberty Avenues. Whether you’re after a hearty steak dinner or an upscale evening at The Carlton, you are bound to find something to satiate your appetite.
With a car rental at your service, you aren’t just limited to the sights and sounds of Pittsburgh. If you’re up for a road trip, head 130 miles northwest on I-76 and I-80 to Cleveland, Ohio. Cruise around I-20 to enjoy the view of Lake Erie, or enjoy an afternoon at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Alternatively, you may also drive 100 miles east on US-22 to Altoona, PA. This charming city is home to the Altoona Railroders Memorial Museum—the perfect place for a train enthusiast—as well as Fort Roberdeau, a military installation dating back to the 1780s.

Return Your Car Rental & Relax Before You Fly

When you’re ready to depart Pittsburgh, you’ll either return your off-site car rental to its company and make your way to the airport, or return your car rental to its respective on-site company in the airport parking garage. For airport drop-offs, cross the street to Terminal A or Terminal B to get back to the check-in area. PIT serves over a dozen airlines, among them Sun Air Express and American Eagle, and sees over 8 million passengers per year.
If you have some time before your plane takes off, you’ll find plenty to entertain yourself with in Airmall Pittsburgh. Enjoy a sit-down meal at one of the restaurants taking up residence in the concourses, or just grab a snack at one of the fast food stops before boarding. You’ll also find plenty of shops and kiosks for those times when you need to purchase a piece of jewelry for even vitamins.
