Although I secured a great price at BDL, the distance to the rental facility is annoying. The first car I picked up was unusable as it reeked of smoke. As soon as I opened the door, the smell overwhelmed me. I was graciously offered another car which was fine and the staff was very accommodating. The return of the car was confusing. Another customer and I searched for the return area. I finally just parked it and went inside. There was only one person working the desk and she already had another customer. After about 12 minutes, someone else came to help. That took another 15 mins to get both of us cleared. The shuttle driver was non-communicative- neither got out of his seat to assist with bags and no greeting. Very disapponting.

The car was ready and waiting when I arrived, clean in good condition. It had a tendency to over steer. Perhaps the tires were over inflated. Half way through the rental the low tire pressure warning light came on but I could see no evidence of under inflation (except that the steering improved). The only problem came when I had to extend the rental by one day. Thrifty not only would not honor the carrentals.com rate for the third day but revised the original contract effectively doubling the cost of the entire rental. If they're not going to extend the rental at the same rate, the least they could do is leave the original contract alone.
