The gas gauge in our rental was weird. There were just a little white checkmarks so we really couldn’t read it, although we were suspicious that it was not full. But we have never picked up a rental car that was not full so we went on. We drove the little Chevy from the airport to downtown Cabo and back to the airport. Maybe 80 miles? Cost us $46 to fill. There were 5 of those little check marks when we picked up-9 marks after we filled it. They would not do a thing for us. Lesson learned. Also I purchased the international insurance through car rentals.com. The rental agency was not happy about this and charged us $1900 US deposit for the car. Not awesome!

We had a great experience with Hertz. however, I think applies to all rental companies in Mexico - be aware that the quoted price is NOT the price you will pay once you HAVE TO buy compulsory insurance and added tax.

My departing flight was 7 AM. Hertz was to be open at 6 AM which made it really tight. They arrived at 6:03 and then took 11 minutes to process my paperwork. I was told that it was exactly what I had signed up for, so I signed it and headed for the airport just in time to board my plane. When I got home and received the bill it was $80 more than what I had agreed to pay.
