There was a strong air freshener smell when I picked up the vehicle. This changed to a strong cigarette smell within 24 hours.

I signed up for a family sedan, and initially they gave me a scat cat with a motor that sounded like a hot rod!! They agreed to trade it for a Chrysler 300S, which was much more to our expectations.

We traveled with friends who decided to use Hertz instead of Dollar. Good choice for them and very bad decision for us! They literally walked up to the Hertz counter and a few minutes later they were walking to the rental car. We walked up to the Dollar counter to an uninterested and very unfriendly representative - Pam. Pam was was really lacking in personality and apologies. She told us there would be a wait for the car as all the cars were being washed. Turning around from the counter we saw quite a number of people ahead of us just waiting for a clean car. I tried calling the Dollar reservation line. FORGET THAT! No help! I talked to someone at a call center that had very poor English. I hardly understood a word she said, and I doubt she understood me. After 45 minutes we got a car. The car WAS clean, but after 45 minutes at a car wash it should have been sparkling! Our original receipt (online) when car was booked was different than what we were charged on our credit card. Approximately $45+ more. We tried calling the Dollar 1-800 number again for clarification. FORGET IT! Again, another non-English speaking call center employee. Finally after being transferred twice a representative (from the call center) told me the Dollar Rental in Myrtle Beach was privately owned and Dollar Rental Corp could not address any of my concerns. We attempted to contact Dollar's Myrtle Beach rental counter at least 4-5 times. EVERY single time we called the number it was busy! It did not matter when we called the local number...it was BUSY. Hmmm. Perhaps the representatives take the phone off the hook to avoid people asking too many questions. So ridiculous! I doubt I will EVER consider DOLLAR RENTAL regardless of how great the deal looks online. Additionally, Pam at the rental counter should have a manager address her poor approach to customer service. A smile, a greeting when approaching the counter, and an apology for the LONG delay would have gone a long way. Others renters shared the same opinions as we all waited together to get a rental vehicle. Next time we will choose any other car rental agency. No more Dollar for us. I still would like an address to send a detailed letter to Dollar's Myrtle Beach management. So far I have been unable to locate a name or an address. Be smart...stay away from Dollar!
