I love using carrentals.com it makes my life easy....i never had any issue wth them. Book, pay at pickup and go....awesome

First of all, I think it was because we are Asians. I never like to pull the race card, but during the pandemic, it’s the only explanation for his actions and attitude. The representative told us that we HAVE to get insurance for the vehicle or else we can’t rent it. It’s $60 per day for 3 days! The vehicle itself was already $382. We told him we thought the insurance was optional, he ignored that and continued saying that if anything, minor or major, was to happen to the vehicle, we would have to be liable for the cost. We told him we understood. He still insisted that we get the insurance or we cannot rent the vehicle. We told him then we’ll look elsewhere. He then was able to complete the transaction without the insurance. We wanted to add my dad as an additional driver. The representative told us that my dad needs to present his driver’s license AND a major credit card. The rental was not in his name. It was in my husband’s name. My dad was just going to be an additional driver. With that said, my dad did not have a credit card so he wasn’t added to drive. The representative handed us the key and receipt and told us where to find the vehicle. We had to find another representative in the lot to inspect the vehicle with us. I give Budget at SMF a 1 star due to bad customer service. If the representative was more aware of national and global news, he would know that COVID-19 was already in the US since 2019 and it is not the same strain as the one in China, but Italy.

Trying to up sale insurance for me to buy but I refused he started to have me attitude, and returning the vechile, also not polite. Will not rent with them again i been renting a lot through other renter with no problem.
