When I arrived at the Car Rental place they would not rent me a car unless I buy private insurance from them at a ridiculous amount like $27 or more a day. I explained that I have a insurance coverage through my credit caed and they gave me a folder with affidavits from different Insurance carriers and said I needed to bring one of them to not pay insurance. Needless to say I was being held hostage and needed to get on my way I asked what was the cheapest insurance they offer and they explained for $17.00 a day but it only covers if the car is a total loss. Well, needless to say I felt like I was just ripped off buying totally useless insurance because the chance are if the vehicle is total loss than I'm probably not here today. This experience is high up on the scam charts.. So I paid for the rental and also high priced worthless insurance.

I tried to pick my car up in Cancun at the airport. The car rental place is not at the airport and they did not have a marked shuttle to get there. After walking 25 minutes I finally found the place under the name of Euro Car Rental. Someone at the airport warned me that the car rental place would try to sell me insurance but they told me to refuse it. After I got there the car employee said they would not rent the car to me unless I bought their insurance which was $500. He would sell me the car for the amount I agreed on but only if I put $10,000 American dollars as a security deposit. Never go to Mexico, the drivers are speeders, never put their signals on, and the roads are terrible.

They confirmed a Sonata and provided a Forte, bait and switch ??? Also, 3rd party liability auto insurance is very expensive, only deal with those rental companies that provide a quote in advance, not like this company that provides quotes once you arrive for pickup, too late by that time to find another supplier with better insurance rates...
