RESTON, Va., July 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- comScore, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its monthly analysis of U.S. consumer activity at the top online properties for June 2008 based on data from the comScore Media Metrix service...The online car rental category was the top-gaining in June, growing 4 percent to 6.5 million visitors. Enterprise Rent-A-Car Company led the category with 3.4 million visitors, followed by Avis Budget Group with 2.6 million visitors. Significant gainers in the category included Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. (up 39 percent to 1.1 million visitors), CarRentals.com (up 42 percent to 892,000 visitors), and Advantage.com (up 39 percent to 214,000 visitors).

TechWeb - 'CarRentals.com Launches Mobile Service'
CarRentals.com on Wednesday launched a mobile service that enables travelers to use their browser-equipped cellular phones or handheld computers to compare prices from multiple vendors and make reservations.
Travelers accessing the New York-based company's web site with a cellular phone or handheld device will automatically be sent to a new site designed for the smaller screen size. From that location, they can check prices and a reserve a vehicle from any one of a variety of car rental companies, which include Avis, Budget and Enterprise.

Smart phone and PDA users can now use those devices to comparison shop and book car rentals.
Last week CarRentals.com , a search engine for booking car rentals, added new technology that recognizes a smart phone or a personal digital assistant and automatically redirects users to a page that has been simplified and made to fit a small screen. Although smart phones and PDAs provide wireless access to the Internet, they usually cannot access content on travel sites, said CarRentals spokesman David Morton, because the information doesn't fit on a small screen and complicated graphics stupefy the devices.
